Driving back from the coast, with K at the wheel, after a couple of quiet, relaxing days at the beach house. Not entirely awake, but comfortable.
It’s certainly been some time since I’ve written. Let me try to get you caught up.
I moved to Portland in the spring of this year, before I finished my master’s program. I graduated from that program in June, and I’m really glad to be done. The return to academia was fun, and I did learn some valuable things in the program, but I’ve been craving a return to “normal” work for a long time.
K and I moved into a new place shortly afterward. I really like the house — open, light, plenty of space, plenty of storage, and it’s in an amazing location. Quiet and walkable, a few blocks from a bakery, the library, restaurants, etc.
Along with settling into the new house, I’ve been looking for work, and I accepted an offer just a few days ago. I’ll be starting soon as a software developer at Rentrak, a media analytics company. It’s perhaps a little on the corporate side — as was Dimensional, my last full-time employer — but they seem like good people, and I’m really looking forward to getting started.
It’s at this point — having accepted a job — that I’m starting to feel settled in Portland. Like I’ve finished moving here.
Just a couple of photo sets since last time:
